The module is used for authorized access to network printing and copying devices. The module includes the print queue management and access configuration software and the devices placed at the printers called Printoscope Terminals, or software built into the machine. The module is to receive printouts from users and store them for later printing and monitor the quantity of created copies. Terminal or software built into the MFD device in conjunction with its server is responsible for user authentication via PIN code or proximity/ magnetic cards, printouts protection against unauthorized access and execution of follow-me-printing function.

Each system-operated printer is supplemented with a Printoscope terminal in the form of a hardware or software module integrated with the machine’s panel, and a proximity/magnetic card reader for user identification. While making a printout on his/her computer, a user forwards its content to the Printoscope Terminal Server instead of sending it directly to the printer. Then it is directed to any system-operated printer. The employee confirms his/her identity with a proximity/magnetic card and by means of the MFD software or a Print Terminal selects the printout created on his workstation before.  After this operation, the printout’s content is directed from the Printoscope Terminal Server to the selected printer and the document is printed.

The dedicated graphic tool enables the management of printers, queues and users configuration and conferring special powers upon them. Graphical administrator interface allows to manage printouts queues. Selected printouts can be reviewed and cancelled.

Features of Printoscope Terminal Server:

  • Monitoring printouts from MFPs
  • Freedom to choose the printer from which the printout is to be collected
  • Confidentiality and security ensured as the document is released by the user at the printer
  • Monitoring of copies, including copies made on analog equipment with an accuracy of a user
  • Authorization of a user who uses a firmware or a terminal can be performed by means of  PIN codes or identification card (mostly proximity card readers in various standards)
  • Software integration with the MFD panel – system functions accessible from the level of machine
  • Possibility to connect any proximity card reader and build it into the machine or terminal
  • Full integration with the printing cost control system – with the Printoscope Cost Control module
  • Control of the input configuration data correctness
  • Increased security resulting from the possibility of defining authorization to a given printer, printers group, user and user groups
  • Monitoring printout queues and user printouts
  • Possibility to update the configuration of printers, users and authorization without stopping the system
  • The use of assistance function – to entitle a person to collect printouts from another owner
